Laura is originally from Melbourne, Australia and has called Bend, Oregon home since 2013. Laura has always been an avid competitive athlete, beginning her pursuits in track and field, netball and basketball, dabbling in surfing before finding her pure love for skiing in the beautiful Australian alps. Laura is a compassionate, joyful and heart-led soul, who has had a passion for learning about the human body since her year 10 PE class. Laura recalls lighting up inside when her teacher introduced the concepts of muscle physiology for the first time. Laura began her higher education journey at Deakin University in Melbourne, with an undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sports Science, culminating in an Honors year with a published study in the Journal of Applied Physiology. Laura also enjoyed teaching Biomechanics and Human Physiology to undergrad students, playing university basketball and working her summers in the lab as a researcher, to supplement her income as a gym instructor and personal trainer.

Laura considered pursuing the academic path after being offered a PhD placement, but she turned it down to answer the call of her dream-led, adventurous soul. In November of 2003, Laura embarked on a solo journey to travel and become a ski instructor in Vail, Colorado. Laura really stretched her solo traveling legs in the Summer of 2004, finding herself in the small, seaside town of Seward, Alaska. Laura fell in love with the tranquil, endless mountains and with a mountain man from Colorado, who is now her husband Robert. They lived in Alaska for 5 years where they got their beloved dog Aly, and adventured in the endless great outdoors through mountain biking (on their first date), kayaking, skiing and camping. Laura started regularly practicing and teaching yoga while in Alaska and discovered her love of trail running, trying her hand at some local Alaskan mountain races. While in Alaska Laura found her next dream and true passion in life, working as an aide at a local physical therapy clinic. In 2009, Laura and Robert moved back to Colorado for Laura to pursue her dream of becoming a Physical Therapist. Laura attended Regis University in Denver, earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy, as well as working as a personal trainer to help with the grocery bills. Laura was fortunate enough to complete clinical rotations in Portland, Crested Butte and Nicaragua and was nominated to receive the Nationally recognized Mary McMillan scholarship.

In 2013, Robert found a job in Bend, Oregon and offered Laura the chance for a new adventure. Laura found her first job at Therapeutic Associates Physical Therapy, beginning her career as an enthusiastic Orthopedic Therapist, with guest appearances in running clinics, aquatic therapy and discovering pelvic health for the first time. Laura completed her 200 hour Vinyasa Yoga teacher training in 2014. Shortly after that Laura moved into a private practice, working for 3 years at Hands on Physical Therapy in Bend. Here she specialized in various Manual therapy techniques, started teaching therapeutic yoga classes and found a love of community education. Here, Laura’s new specialty and passion was born, with the completion of her level 1 training in Pelvic Health at The Herman and Wallace Institute. Laura was pregnant at the time, and little did she know that her own birth journey with Jasper in the spring of 2016 would result in the birth of her new dream: Lotus Flower Physio. Laura was given the opportunity to specialize in pelvic heath full time at St Charles South clinic starting in 2018, where she honed her skills and refined her practice, becoming a local leader in pre and post natal physical therapy, with a guest appearance in acute care PT during covid times. She also reveled in the opportunity to offer community education for pre and post natal physical therapy in a local birthing class several times a year.

Laura thrives as lifelong learner, community networker, business owner and outdoor adventurer in this beautiful place she calls home. In her free time, Laura enjoys trail running, skiing, mountain biking, camping, hiking, paddling, traveling, surfing, CrossFit, reading, journaling, practicing yoga & meditation and playing with her family and friends.

Laura’s own healing journey following her long, beautiful, arduous birth and recovery from a cesarean, has led to a deep passion for comprehensive pre and post natal physical therapy care and education, as well as a drive to empower women and individuals to take charge of their health and well being in a holistic, embodied and transformative way. Please join Laura as she guides you on your journey back into your body, as you HEAL, BLOOM, GROW and learn how to ‘LIVE FROM YOUR CENTER’.
